Honolulu Academy of Arts: Art after Dark

Thursday, March 07, 2013

Hey Folks,

I know it's been a while since I've posted. But let me make up for it by clueing you in on the monthly Honolulu Museum of Art event -- Art after Dark. For a measly 10 dollar entry free, it gives you full access to great food, music, a happening party scene, and most of all amazing ART! Of course if you're already a member of the Academy, entry is free. Did I mention that all the food was being catered by The Grove? Seems too good to be true right?

Every month they showcase a new artist. Last month's exhibit was a1000x's very own John Koga, with his latest show, Undulation: Rise and Fall, which is a mix between his well known sculptures and his 2-D work.

"These new works also enlarge upon subjects and themes in Koga’s work based upon nature and natural forms and pay tribute to Sato whose lyrical abstraction represents a golden era of painting in Hawai’i.  By producing an exhibition of paintings, rather than sculpture Koga also alludes to the career of Abe, which for decades has oscillated between painting and sculpture."- Honolulu Museum of Art

If you missed the show, you're in luck because the exhibit will be up for your viewing pleasure from now until May. Don't sleep on this one.

Read up all about it here, on the Honolulu Museum of Art website.

The next Art after Dark is on March 29th.

Art, food, and great people. What more could you ask for? Don't miss it.

Here are a couple of pictures from the show:
