Kelli Maeshiro was born in Tokyo, grew up in Hawaii, and has been on a 5-year quest to see the world. She began studying art from an early age, eventually earning her degree from Willamette University in Oregon. She has lived and created in various places, Tokyo, Boston, and Oregon, producing work ranging from chaotic monster doodles to isolated, dysfunctional women. Influenced by moving, contemporary japanese culture, and island fever, the work reflects on the turmoil and chaos associated with impermanence and lack of relationships. She currently lives and teaches art in Honolulu.
