For John Koga, the world is both his muse and his playground. From the urban city scene to the natural environment of Hawaii, his birthplace, his work reflects the natural components of his roots and the contemporary feel of his generation.
Currently Koga is installing art around the islands but is first and foremost a creator. Using a wood, stone, glass, bronze, and plaster, Koga meshes the natural and the modern, elements that compliment, rather than clash, with each other. Since the start of his career 20 years ago, Koga has established himself as Hawaii’s most well known Modernist and an intrinsic component of the Hawaii’s art scene.
